My name is Lizzy, and I’m 2x. I like to blog about my thoughts, philosophical rants, love, life, music, and the happenings of my twentysomething life

RELATIONSHIPS: I’ve been engaged once, but never married. I had my first baby on 3-5-11, a baby girl, Sophie Pearl. I am going to be a single mama although that’s not how I planned it. I have two amazing parents, and am lucky to be so close with my Mama. I also have an older brother who lives in North Carolina, and a younger baby sister who is now in her senior year of high school that I consider not only a sister, but a best friend. These people are my life.

SCHOOL: I graduated from SDSU in 2006 with a BA in Philosophy. I then attended Concord Law School from 2007-2009. I passed my first year of law school, and passed the Baby Bar (FYLSE) on the first try (a hard task, let me tell you! The Baby Bar had a 13% pass rate that administration), but had to withdraw from school for personal reasons at the end of my 2nd year in November of 2009. I loved being in law school, and I loved interning at the Public Defender’s Office in El Cajon. My goal is to re-take the LSAT this October (2010) and apply to schools in San Diego and San Francisco for next fall (2011). My life plan has taken me many more years than I ever expected, buy my life experience is something I would never trade for the world. I do believe that we each have our own path, and I am no longer ashamed or embarrassed of the mine has gone.

CAREER: I currently work for Domino’s Pizza, where I have been since 2001! Right now I have many job titles, which I boil down into this: I am Office Manager and Safety Officer for my boss, Eric (a franchisee), and I recently got hired to be the Social Media Marketing Director for the San Diego Co-op ( a group of 5 franchisees in San Diego who collectively own and operate 38 Domino’s Pizza stores). I run the Domino’s Pizza of San Diego facebook page, twitter page, blog, and have new ventures in the works. I LOVE working for Domino’s Pizza!

LIKES: I LOVE getting tattooed and pierced. I currently have 4 tattoos and 8 piercings. I also am a vegetarian, and proud of it! I love going to the gym, trying new things, going on random adventures, eating sushi, playing football, watching football, watching TV shows, and reading about history and philosophy. I am a pretty big indie music fan, and I love love love finding new music, so if you have any suggestions, send em my way!

MUSIC: My Top 5 favorite albums of all time are (in no order):

1. Modest Mouse “The Moon and Antartica”

2. Jose Gonzalez “Veneer”

3. Minus the Bear “Menos el Oso”

4. The Postal Service “Give Up”

5. Death Cab for Cutie “Plans”

Other than that, I love Minus the Bear, The National, Modest Mouse, The Material, Coheed & Cambria, Taking Back Sunday, City & Colour, Damien Rice, Wakey!Wakey!, Chromeo, Nural, Children of Nova, Atmosphere, 30 Seconds to Mars, Brazil, Bright Eyes, Cake, Aerosmith, Sufjan Stevens, Nick Drake, Ives, The Silent Comedy, Saosin, Amberlin, Ryan Adams, Dashboard Confessionals, Bear vs. Shark, Alexi Murdoch, Iron & Wine, Elliot Smith, Circa Survive, The XX

PERSONAL BELIEFS: I am a vegetarian, I don’t believe in eating meat. I also don’t believe that the Bible is a word of God, I think it is a book written by men that needs to be taken in its historical timeframe, just like any other book. I do believe in what I call “God X”. God X is a benevolent, omnipotent, omniscience, all loving powerful source of the universe. I don’t believe that we all just turn to dust when we pass, I like to think that when we die, we will gain the ultimate knowledge of the universe and its workings. I am also a moral relativist, which basically means I don’t believe there is a universal right and wrong, all ethics/morals are relative to the situations surrounding them. I don’t believe in free will, I think we are determined, I am a determinist. Although I wouldn’t go as far to say I am a Hume-ian (if you will). Politically, I fall on the far left (if you believe in the line analogy of politics). I think the government should stay out of the bedroom, I am 1547097% for gay-marriage, and multiple marriage for that matter, as long as all parties are adults and consenting. I am pro-choice, and anti-drugs. I don’t really have an opinion of immigration, except I LOVE to quote Alicia Silverstone from Clueless “there is no RSVP on the Statue of Liberty”. I am a Constitutionalist, I believe in that document, and I will spend my life supporting it, which is why I want to be a public defender. I try to live with no regrets, and live in the moment. I say what I mean and when I think it, I am honest, and I wear my heart on my sleeve.

  1. I fell onto this page through John Guiney (my teammate in Movember/opponent in life’s challenge to obtain the title “Emperor of Awesome”).

I love the depth and honesty of your About Me, but more than anything was grabbed by your top 5 albums. I didn’t know anyone actually listened to Minus the Bear (even though Highly Refined Pirates is objectively their best album). Jose Gonzalez, my favorite Swedish musician with a Hispanic name ever, is in my eyes the most over-looked, under-rated singer/song writer out there.

Eighteen bonus points to your musical taste.

And best of luck with the law school/kid thing too.

    • I’ve actually never listened to Highly Refined Pirates… burn me a copy? Personally, I love Menos el Oso, and I doubt anything will ever change my mind on that. It is quite possibly my #1 favorite album of all time. So much so that one of my next tattoos will be the line “So this is the difference between living and not living? These are just bodies.”

And I’m literally listening to Jose Gonzalez right now while at work! I agree with your eyes, haha, his music is truly magical and his voice is unlike anything you can ever imagine to hear in your life. The guitar picks…. its like heaven (if heaven existed, and we still had our human sense of hearing).

And thanks on the the other stuff!
